Sam Hill Takes Win #1 at Nissan UCI Mountain Bike World Cup

In 2007, Sam Hill grabbed the World Cup title and this year, he's won the opening round, setting a positive tone for this year's competition. In the semi finals on the 5th, he finished 3rd, just half a second behind Frenchman Julien Camellini. Both moved up 2 spots in the final.

Popular Trail in Arkansas Closed Due to Serious Erosion

The popular three-to-five mile Fossil Flats trail in Devil's Den State Park has been closed to the public. Rushing water from the adjacent Lee Creek has eroded a large part of the trail due to the record rainfall and heavy flooding the state has endured. “It [the creek] just ate the trail away,” Devil’s Den Assistant Superintendent Tim Scott said.

Prehistoric Woodland Being Destroyed by Mountain Biking

A prehistoric monument and ancient woodlands in West Looe, Caradon in the UK are being destroyed by mountain bikers and motorcyclists. For a second year in a row, Kilminorth Woods, which is a Local Nature Reserve and a draw to bikers for off-track riding, is showing signs of severe damage. "The bikers have built substantial wood and earth ramps, gouging trenches in the floor of the woods for their construction and churning up the earth where they ride their bikes off-track. Worse still, the bikers have deliberately dug out sections of the Giant's Hedge to form tracks."
